Welcome to The Surrey Centre for Eating Disorders
Nestled in a peaceful corner of the Surrey countryside, The Surrey Centre for Eating Disorders is a place of compassion, understanding, and expert care. Originally established in a beautifully restored 1875 schoolhouse, our centre has become a trusted space for healing and recovery.
With a dedicated team of therapists, dietitians, and nutritionists, we provide specialised support for those struggling with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder (BED), Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), and other disordered eating challenges. Our tailored therapeutic approach ensures that no one has to navigate their recovery alone—we are here to guide, support, and empower you every step of the way.
About Us
Expert-Led, Compassionate Treatment
Founded in 2010 by a team of experienced eating disorder and addiction specialists, The Surrey Centre has grown into a dedicated space for individual, non-residential eating disorder treatment. We provide support for individuals aged 13+, as well as families and loved ones, ensuring that recovery extends beyond the individual.
One of our key strengths is our fully integrated, client-centred approach—we combine specialist therapy with expert dietetic support, helping individuals not only change their relationship with food but also address the deep-rooted emotional struggles that fuel the disorder.

Our Approach
Compassionate, Personalised, and Fully Integrated Care
At The Surrey Centre, we believe that eating disorders need to be met with compassion, not judgment. Behind every ritual, restriction, or compulsion is a deeper emotional need that must be gently understood and worked through. True recovery means healing both the mind and body, which is why we take a holistic approach to treatment.
Our team of psychotherapists, dietitians, and nutritionists work together to:
- Understand the root of your eating disorder—why it started and what fuels it.
- Help you develop a healthier relationship with food—free from fear, guilt, or shame.
- Challenge rigid beliefs and rituals in a safe, supportive way.
- Address underlying emotional struggles that the eating disorder is masking.
- Guide families and loved ones to better understand how to support recovery.
Through our tailored, compassionate treatment, the eating disorder will lose its grip on your thoughts, energy, and life—allowing you to rediscover joy, freedom, and a deeper connection to yourself.
How We Work
Understanding the Power of an Eating Disorder
Eating disorders are more than just about food—they can take over your thoughts, your energy, and your sense of self. Whether through bingeing, purging, or restriction, they create a false sense of control, while in reality, they isolate, exhaust, and steal the joy from life.
At The Surrey Centre, we deeply understand that:
- An eating disorder can feel like both a coping mechanism and a prison.
- Letting go of its control can feel terrifying.
- It often brings anxiety, depression, and low self-worth alongside disordered eating behaviours.
- Challenging it alone is overwhelming—but with the right support, recovery is possible.
Our goal is to help you break free from the cycle, step by step, in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
