At The Surrey Centre, we recognise that eating disorders are not solely about food or body image – they are profound expressions of inner distress, coping mechanisms for emotional pain, and signals of unmet needs. Our one-to-one therapy offers a compassionate and confidential space to explore these underlying issues, guiding you towards healing and a more harmonious relationship with yourself.

We understand that each individual’s journey with food and body image is unique. Our therapists employ an integrative approach, drawing from various therapeutic modalities – including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy, and Jungian Analysis – to tailor our methods to your specific needs.
Our philosophy emphasises working simultaneously with issues around food and the underlying emotional challenges. Therapy provides emotional and cognitive support, raising awareness of and challenging existing rigid behaviour patterns, exploring the defensive motivations behind them, and understanding their consequences. We encourage autonomy and support you in taking responsibility for and control of your life, aiming for a healthier and more fulfilling existence.

- Session Duration: Each session typically lasts 55 minutes.
- Frequency: Sessions are usually held weekly with the same therapist to build a trusting and consistent relationship.
- Format: We offer both in-person sessions at our centres in Headley, Bath, and Chepstow, and online sessions for greater accessibility.
Our therapists are trained to address a range of issues that often accompany eating disorders, such as:
- Anxiety and panic disorders

- Low self-esteem and identity issues
- Trauma and past adverse experiences
- Co-dependency and relationship challenges

We recognise the importance of involving family in the recovery process when appropriate. Our Family Therapy sessions aim to educate and support loved ones, fostering a collaborative environment for healing.

Embarking in therapy is a significant step, and we’re here to guide you through it. We offer a straightforward referral process, accepting self-referrals as well as those from GPs, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other professionals.
Our assessment process is designed to understand your unique situation fully, ensuring that the support we provide aligns with your specific needs and goals.
